The first week in the legislature was fast paced with Economic Outlook & Revenue Assessment
Committee (EORAC) starting on January 2.
The Committee’s charge is to make an overall assessment of Idaho’s economy by providing a forum for expert testimony from economists, business leaders, and industry spokesmen regarding the status of Idaho’s current economy and the economic outlook for the next eighteen months and provide advice to the Legislature regarding the total estimated revenues expected to be available for appropriation. The committee then makes a recommendation to
the Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee (JFAC) for the projected revenue number to start the budget process.
The official session started on January 6 with the Governor’s State of the State message to the House, Senate, Constitutional Officers and the Supreme Court Justices.
The Joint Finance & Appropriations Committee (JFAC) started meeting daily on Tuesday morning, hearing testimony and reviewing Agency Budgets. Transportation & Defense Committee and the Resources & Conservation Committee met and started reviewing the rules.
This week I met with Idaho Consumer Owned Utilities, Boise Chamber, American Legion/VFW, and the Cable Broadband Assn.
Thank you for the privilege to serve as your Representative.
